Sekulic & Damayanti deny all Thais final

A fairytale continued on as 17 years old German qualifier Sarah-Rebecca Sekulic booked her ticket into first ever 10K final of her career at "PTT Women's Circuit 1" in Rama Garden Hotel Tennis Center, Bangkok, Thailand today (June 12, 2009). In semi-final lefty Sekulic played very well to defeat second seed Thai Varatchaya Wongteanchai 6-3, 6-2. In the final, Sekulic will face top seed Ayu Fani Damayanti from Indonesia.

The only Indonesian left Damayanti had to fight hard against fourth seed Nungnadda “Jib” Wannasuk of Thailand in three sets but in the end talented Damayanti sealed 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory. Both players Damayanti and Wannasuk tied at 1 all in their two previous meetings. In double’s final, Thai unseeded pair Suchanun Viratprasert/Varatchaya Wongteanchai claimed their title after they cruised past duet Tomoko Dokei/Yoo Mi (Japan/South Korea) 6-4, 6-1.
