Local Mladenovic into final while third seed Pervak falls

Third seed Ksenia Pervak from Russia failed to win despite her victory in the first set and eventually she was surprised by compatriot 15 years old Daria Gavrilova. Gavrilova showed her never give-up attitude despite opening set deficit and her final score was 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2.

Now local last hope and ninth seed Kristina Mladenovic will have the opportunity to follow what Alize Cornet did when she won Roland Garros in 2007. In semi-finals, 16 years old Mladenovic edged past 15th seed and qualifier Sloane Stephens from USA with 7-5, 6-3 victory. Last year here at Roland Garros, Mladenovic finished in round 16 then she was semi-finalist at US Open 2008.

In doubles' semi-finals, second seed pair Elena Bogdan/Noppawan "Nok" Lertcheewakarn (Romania/Thailand) had to fight extra harder against sixth seed duo Yana Buchina/Ksenia Pervak of Russia 6-1, 4-6, 10-4, while third seed duet Timea Babos/Heather Watson (HUngary/Great Britain) 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.
