Another shock of the day was created by local wild card Asia Muhammed as she edged past eighth seed Tomoko Yonemura of Japan 7-5, 6-3 in the first round. Then the teenager from Las Vegas will play against qualifier and rising star Ajla Tomljanovic from Croatia in the second round.
