Sutjiadi's saga ended in the final
The final hope of Indonesia, Aldila Sutjiadi was unable to capitalize victory when she finished as runner-up eventually at “Jubilee School ITF 14 & Under Asian Championships” which took place at Kemayoran Tennis Center, Jakarta, a venue owned by “tennis diva” Martina Widjaja and her cronies. In the final, third seed Sutjiadi fell to second seed Katherine Ip of Hong Kong 1-6, 4-6 yesterday (03/24/2009).
Based on the observation of Mr. Johannes Susanto, Head of Tournament Committee within Indonesia Tennis Association, Sutjiadi did not play in her normal form and she made strings of error especially in the opening set. In doubles’ final, Sutjiadi returned with her partner Evita Febrihapsari and as second seed pair, they were beaten by third seed duo from Thailand, Gornganok Tiraganok,/Nahathai Khuntaket 2-6, 6-2, 6-7(6).
In boys’ singles, top seed Syrian Ameer Naow came out as the winner but he had to earn it in a hard way over second seed Nguyen Hoang Thien of Vietnam. In the opening set the Vietnamese shocked Naow and took 6-3. Then Naow fought back and secured 6-3 in the second set. Finally in the final set, Naow closed it out 6-4.
In doubles’ final, duet Naow/Nguyen returned to the court and faced South Korean pair, Kim Young-Seok/Jeong In-Kyo. Naow’s good skills were proven also in doubles as his partnership with Nguyen brought another victory. They had quite easy battle and won 6-2, 6-2 over the South Korean duo. Second leg of the tourney will resume on Thursday and today all players are scheduled to have city tour.
