Two Indonesian girls left in the competition, Aldila Sutjiadi and Voni Darlina stumbled and failed to create all Indonesian final after they bowed out to their opponents in the semi-finals of “Jubilee School ITF 14 & Under Asian Championships” at Kemayoran Tennis Center, Jakarta yesterday. Both Sutjiadi and Darlina will battle for 3rd and 4th places and the final results will determine the top four finishers who will be eligible to represent Asia in ITF U-14 team for European tour.
In the last four round, second seed Sutjiadi was beaten by fifth seed Sun Zi-Tue from China 2-6, 0-6. Based on the information from Mr. Sutjiadi, Sun played superbly and did not give her daughter to have chance in applying her own game. Meanwhile Darlina suffered back to back defeat to top seed Katherine Ip of Hong Kong. In such ferocious duel, eventually Darlina lost 5-7, 6-1, 3-6. In the first leg of this tourney, Darlina also lost in three sets to Ip. It was very possible that Darlina was physically worn out as she had to work hard in ousting third seed Alina Abdurakhimova from Uzbekistan 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(1) in the quarterfinals. As for Sutjiadi she cruised past You Xiaodi of China 6-2, 6-3 in the other last eight round match. Top seed Katherine IP also won easily over Indian Tarrannum Handa 6-1, 6-2, then Sun Zi-Tue saw-off fourth seed Samitha C Sai from India also 6-1, 6-2.
