Three Indonesian seeds romped into second round at Manila 10K

From ”Holcim ITF Women's Circuit” tournament with total prize money of US $ 10,000 which is taking place in Manila, in the land of Imelda Marcos, three Indonesian seeds did not have trouble in cruising into the second round. In the opening round, fourth seeded Lavinia Tananta toppled qualifier Chan Hao-Ching of China Taipei 6-3, 6-2. In the second round, Tananta will face unranked player of France, Elodie Rogge-Dietrich.

Fifth seeded Ayu Fani Damayanti tasted her first overseas victory after her last one also here in Manila 10K a year ago. Talented Damayanti defeated another qualifier from China, Liu Chi-Fan 6-2, 6-4. Another Liu of China, to be exact her name is Liu Chang and is scheduled to challenge Balinese descent Damayanti in the second round.

Eight seeded Jessy Rompies experienced topsy turvy in her game but handled the turbulences at the end by defeating familiar junior player and qualifier Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul of Thailand 6-3, 7-5. In the next round, Rompies will play against South Korean Yoo-Mi. 22 years old Yoo achieved her best world rank at WTA 317 in May, 2007. Yoo is no stranger for Indonesian players, as she had traveled to Jakarta for tourneys. Yoo had some wins and losses against Indonesian players and she just resumed her pro tour last month. She had almost a year hiatus due to injury and she had to pay the price of losing her world ranking as its consequence.
