Tananta romps into semi-final

The current number one of Indonesia, Lavinia Tananta booked her place in semi-final at "Women's Circuit 3" tournament which is held in Hatyai, Songkhla, Thailand on Thursday (July 15, 2010).

In today's quarterfinal, third seed Tananta edged past Russian qualifier Natela Dzalamidze 6-2, 6-4. Today it was the second meeting between Tananta and Dzalamidze. In their first meeting at Bukhara 25K, Uzbekistan in early June 2010, Tananta battled past Dzalamidze 6-3, 6-3 in the opening round.

In the last four round, Tananta will face qualifier Katherine Westbury from New Zealand who stunned Australian sixth seed Alison Bai 6-4, 6-2.

Meanwhile Austrian second seed Tina Schiechtl also cruised into semi-final after she saw-off seventh seed Magali De Lattre of Portugal 6-4, 6-0. In semi-final, Schiechtl will be challenged by local eighth seed Nudnida Luangnam who shocked Japanese fourth seed Ayaka Maekawa 6-1, 6-0.

Tananta cruises into quarterfinal, Damayanti falls

From "Women's Circuit 3" tournament with total prize money of US $ 10,000 in Hatyai, Songkhla, Thailand, singles' second round were completed today (July 14, 2010). Indonesian players third seed Lavinia Tananta and unseeded Ayu Fani Damayanti were in action but only Tananta made it to quarterfinals.

The current number one of Indonesia, Tananta battled past Chinese Taipei qualifier Juan Ting-Fei 6-2, 7-5. With this victory, Tananta is now leading 2-0 in her head to head with Juan. In their first ever meeting at Manila 10K in November 2008, Tananta came from behind to beat Juan 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Meanwhile Damayanti was defeated by local eighth seed Nudnida Luangnam 4-6, 1-6. Despite such defeat, Damayanti is still leading 3-2 in her head to head with Luangnam.

The top seed killer, young South Korean qualifier Lee So-Ra failed to keep up her winning streak as she was beaten by New Zealander who also had to go through qualifying, Katherine Westbury 4-6, 5-7.

Tananta, Damayanti earn victory, while Rompies crashes out


From the third leg of Thai Women's Circuit with total prize money of US $ 10,000 in Hatyai, Songkhla, Thailand which started on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 three Indonesians from Big Mama's camp - numero uno Lavinia Tananta, Ayu Fani Damayanti dan Jessy Rompies began their campaign.

Coming-off from a break, third seed Tananta had an easy outing as she booted out local wild card Nattawadee Kotcha 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round. Also returning to the tour after several weeks off, Damayanti posted an easy victory over South Korean Han Sung-Hee 6-1, 6-0.

Meanwhile Rompies who has been playing her third week of 10K here, bowed out to Russian qualifier Natela Dzalamidze 3-6, 3-6 in the opening round. In the first leg, Rompies grabbed her 10K maiden title in Nonthaburi then last week she finished in second round or round 16 in Pattaya.

The biggest shock was capitalized by 15 years old South Korean qualifier Lee So-Ra as she ousted Japanese top seed Shiho Akita 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.

Tananta stays as Indonesia's numero uno

The youngest of all above, Grace Sari Ysidora had lost her ranking last May due to its expiration and then she claimed back in 800s.
