Nadia Ravita stormed into main draw in Florida


Jakarta born Nadia Ravita was ranked 858 as at October 27, 2008 and this 14 years old girl clinched her berth in the singles' main draw of "Evert American ITF Junior Circuit" or known as "Evert Cup" in Boca Raton, Florida, USA. This prestigious ITF grade 4 tourney is currently taking place at Evert Tennis Academy owned by world legend, Chris Evert of USA.

Ravita is approaching four months of her rigorous training at International Tennis Academy in Delray Beach, Florida and is only playing her third tournament here ever since she arrived in the land of Andy Roddick. In her previous ITF grade 2 tourney in Lexington, South Carolina, Ravita had to be content as finisher in the second round of qualifying. After getting bye in Q1, she lost to 18 years old Turkish Burce Kurkan in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 1-6.

Coming home to her adopted Florida, placed as fourth seeded in the qualifying round, Ravita edged past Amber Li, resident of Tampa, Florida 7-5, 6-3. In Q2 Ravita continued her winning trend by beating 16 years old Hannah Fritzinger of Vero Beach, Florida 6-0, 6-3. In final qualifying round, the daughter of former national players Hawin Sutopo and Lukky Tedjamukti outclassed 16 years old and eight seeded Gyanna Mandic of Canada (ITF 1053) 6-3, 6-1 and secured her place in the singles' main draw. In the opening round or round 64, Ravita will challenge 17 years old and world ranked 591 Gabriella Boboc of Sweden.
