Tedjakusuma has breakthrough at San Diego's challenger

Surabaya born Romana Tedjakusuma proved her competitiveness by advancing into the second round at "Santa Luz Open", a challenger tourney with total prize money of US $ 50,000 in San Diego, California, USA. Currently ranked at WTA 372, Tedjakusuma clinched her victory over wild card, Story Tweedie-Yates of USA 6-4, 6-4 in the first round yesterday. World ranked 378 Tweedie-Yates is a familiar player for 32 years old Indonesian as now Tedjakusuma is securing 2-1 in their head to head after the match. Both players had doubles partnership this year at Palm Beach Gardens 25K, Carson 50K and El Paso 25K. The two players utilized their utmost capacities in grabbing doubles title at Carson 50K last May.

Certainly it is Tedjakusuma's breakthrough as she has been struggling with total of seven losses in her last seven tourneys. Next in the second round, Tedjakusuma will face 18 years old Delaware prodigy, Madison Brengle. Brengle did not have to stay long on the court since her opponent, fourth seeded Olga Puchkova of Russia chose to retire when she trailed 0-3 in the opening set.

In doubles, Tedjakusuma continued her doubles partnership with former world number 19, Yayuk Basuki. Duo Basuki/Tedjakusuma will challenge third seeded pair Frederica Piedade/Roxane Vaisemberg (Portugal/Brazil) in the opening round today.
