Rungkat/Thompson failed to secure back to back title



After exited in the first round of singles, Christopher Rungkat continued his hope only in doubles at "Malaysia Futures 2" with total prize money of US $ 15,000 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. With his same partner as last week, fourth seeded Rungkat and Nathan Thompson of USA defeated Siarhei Betau/Andrei Karatchenia of Belarus 6-3, 7-6(4) in the quarter-final.

In the semi-final, duo Rungkat/Thompson bowed out to top seeded pair, Mikal Statham/Yu Xin-Yuan (New Zealand/China) 3-6, 4-6. In their fourth time as pair, Rungkat/Thompson had to be content with this eventual result.

Meanwhile at these two 15Ks, currently world ranked 285 from Australia, Nick Lindahl ran out of gas as the season approached its end. After taking his second title of the year at Australia 15K, in the first leg of Malaysia 15K in Kuala Lumpur last week, as second seeded Lindahl lost to Thai Kittiphong Wachiramanowong 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 in the second round. This week in the second leg here in Petaling Jaya, second son of Swedish father and Indonesian mother crashed out immediately in the opening round. Runner-up at Australian Open Junior Grand Slam in 2006, as third seeded Lindahl bowed out to China's Gong Mao-Xin 5-7, 0-6.
