Christopher Rungkat crashed out in the opening round

Former number one junior player of Indonesia and still freshed from saying goodbye to his junior career, Christopher Rungkat resumed his senior pro circuit here at "Malaysia F1 Futures" in Kuala Lumpur after his previous tourney in Manado futures last August. With total prize money of US $ 15,000, this tourney is taking place at National Tennis Centre on Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur and turned out to be quite competitive field. Currently ranked at ITF 1465, Rungkat had to obtain "wild card" in entering the singles' main draw here. In only his 5th tournaments this year, the doubles' champion of 2008 French Open Junior Grand Slam with Finnish Henri Kontinen, Rungkat bowed out immediately to fifth seeded Jose Statham of New Zealand 5-7, 2-6 in the first round. It was Rungkat's first round exit indeed for the fourth time this season and his only best outcome was at Jakarta futures last August when he reached quarter-final.

In doubles Rungkat is partnering with Afro American, Nathan Thompson again. This duet had good record as pair this year by taking titles back to back at Thai Futures 2 & 3 earlier this year. As fourth seeded, Rungkat/Thompson secured their 1st round victory over local pair and "wild card", Abdul-Hazli Bin Zainuddin/Razlan Rawi 6-4, 6-1. Today in quarter-final, duo Rungkat/Thompson continued their run after defeating "wild card" pair of Malaysia, Adam Jaya/Si Yew-Ming 6-2, 6-4.
