Russian Gabueva claims her 10K's second title at Nonthaburi

20 years old Angelina Gabueva from Russia grabbed singles title of "BEC Tero Womens Circuit 6" after she edged past resurgent Yoo Mi of South Korea 6-4, 6-3 in today's final in Nonthaburi, Thailand. It is only her 10K's second titles after Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2005. Gabueva reached the highest rank of her career at WTA 433 in 2006 and is currently ranked at WTA 871 (as at August 31, 2009). While Yoo's career high rank was at WTA 317 in May 2007 but this week of August 31, 2009 she is ranked at WTA 776. Today it was Yoo's fourth final of 10K after Manila 2003 (lost to Indonesian Septi Mende) and Seogwipo, South Korea in 2005 & 2006 where she came out as winner.

In semi-final, Gabueva battled past third seed Thai Varatchaya Wongteanchai 6-4, 6-4 while Yoo sealed her revenge over sixth seed Indonesian Lavinia Tananta with 7-6(2), 6-2 victory. With such win, Yoo continued her slaughter of three Indonesians in three days.

In doubles final, second seed pair Tananta/Wongteanchai could not extend their momentum after taking the opening set 7-5 as duo Albina Khabibulina/Kanyapat Narattana (Uzbekistan/Thailand) fought back to win 6-4, 10-8 and took the title.
