Damayanti & Tananta fall in quarterfinals at Darwin 25K

Fourth seed Ayu Fani Damayanti did not advance into semi-final as she bowed out to local wild card and former world number 8 Alicia Molik at "Northern Territory Women's Tennis International 1" in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia today (September 18, 2009). In quarterfinal Molik just demolished Damayanti's notoriously weak serve and claimed comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory.

In semi-final Molik will face seventh seed Sacha Jones from New Zealand. Jones surprised second seed Aussie Shannon Golds and won 6-4, 6-1. It will be Jones' fifth semi-finals in 25K after at Vigo, Spain and Taizou, China in 2007, then at Rockhampton and Kawana, both in Australia in 2008.

Top seed Aussie Olivia Rogowska was forced to work hard as Indonesian Lavinia Tananta showed her fighting throughout the match. Rogowska came back from a set deficit to beat Tananta 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

As quarterfinalists, both Damayanti and Tananta bagged US $ 686.00 each person, while in doubles as they ended in the last four round, each of them received US $ 343.00.
