Damayanti & Tananta move into quarterfinals
Fourth seed Ayu Fani Damayanti secured her quarterfinal berth at "Northern Territory Women's Tennis International 1" in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia today (September 17, 2009). In second round Damayanti edged past local player Daniela Scivetti 6-4, 6-3 to set-up a clash with former world number 8 Alicia Molik.
Molik was indeed continued her comeback to professional tennis with a second consecutive victory today. In hot conditions, Molik battled past her compatriot Isabella Holland 6-4, 7-5.
Top seed Aussie Olivia Rogowska was forced to fight harder to win a tight first set against Alenka Hubacek 7-6(4) before Hubacek retired due to injury at 2-2 in the second set.
Second seed Aussie Shannon Golds completed a comfortable 6-4 6-4 win over compatriot Alison Shemon and last but not least Indonesian Lavinia Tananta posted a victory over American Katie Ruckert 6-3, 6-2 to meet top seed Rogowska in the last eight round.
