The only Indonesian who just played her opener today (September 23, 2009), Jessy Rompies once again bowed out to Aussie qualifier Bojana Bobuscic 4-6, 3-6 at "Northern Territory Women's Tennis International 2" in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Bobuscic is just playing her second tourney this week after 4 years' hiatus.
Third seed Emily Webley-Smith from Great Britain secured her ticket into round 16 after she battled past Japanese Natsumi Hamamura 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile fourth seed Chiaki Okadaue of Japan also advanced into second round as she edged past local qualifier Jenny Thuy Le 6-0, 7-6(2).
Playing her sixth match in her come back, Alicia Molik sealed her victory over local wild card Alison Shemon 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles' quarterfinals, third seed Ayu Fani Damayanti/Lavinia Tananta still continued their journey into semi-final as they cruised past local wild card duet Sophie Letcher/Ashling Sumner 7-6(5), 6-2 and they will clash with Alenka Hubacek/Jessy Rompies in the last four round. Hubacek/Rompies (Australia/Indonesia) defeated Sacha Jones/Marija Mirkovic (New Zealand/Australia) by walk over.
