Top seed Gumulya experiences deja vu draw at Solo 10K

After Jakarta, the next stop is "Solo Women's Open" with total prize money of US $ 10,000 and it is being held at Gelora Manahan, Solo, Central Java - hometown of former top 80s Wynne Prakusya. Out of 8 qualifiers, only three Indonesians made it into the main draw which will be starting on Tuesday, August 4, 2009.

With the withdrawal of Ayu Fani Damayanti a couple days prior to withdrawal deadline, automatically erratic Sandy Gumulya is the top seed here in the cultural city of Solo. Damayanti is apparently going through final training as she is heading to play Quanzhou 25K in China from August 10, 2009.

Gumulya has same draw as last week in Jakarta since she will face local wild card and hard hitter Nadia Frederika in the first round. It will be interesting to watch whether Frederika will impose challenge or thriller again as she did before. Thai Varatchaya Wongteanchai is placed as second seed and she has an easy draw in the opening round since she is to face local qualifier Rekyan Woro.

Third seed Jessy Rompies will begin her campaign to earn her maiden title here and will play against local wild card and hard hitter Cynthia Melita. In their last meeting at "Cigna Open 2009" Rompies won over Melita in three sets. Meanwhile fourth seed Nungnadda Wannasuk from Thailand will have a relatively easy outing against local qualifier Bella Destriana.

Fifth seed Lavinia Tananta will try to regain her composure after last week's bitter loss to Ysidora Tobing and this time she will clash with local qualifier Laili Rahmawati Ulfa. Lefty sixth seed Liu Shaozhuo is drawn to meet Thai Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul.

Seventh seed South Korean Kim Ji-Young will be challenged by 15 years old local wild card Nadia Ravita in the first round and then eighth seed China's He Chun-Yan will be tested by Juan Ting-Fei of Chinese Taipei.

Two other unseeded local players, struggling Beatrice Gumulya will face talented Thai Nicha Lertpitaksinchai, while up and coming Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing will play against South Korean qualifier Kang You-Jin. Both Gumulya and Ysidora Tobing had no history of playing their opponents before.

Kang You-Jin made a breakthrough here as she made it into the main draw. Last week in Jakarta, she became qualifier but she did not play at all as she got bye in qualifying. Since August 18, 2008 till May 31, 2009 Kang played 11 tourneys of 10K and 25K and she kept losing in the qualifying round.
