Rungkat/Trijati win doubles title at Iran Futures

Indonesian duo Christopher Rungkat/Sunu Wahyu Trijati took doubles title after they shocked top seed pair Alexei Filenkov/Murad Inoyatov (Russia/Uzbekistan) 6-2, 6-0 in the final of "Iran F5 Futures" with total of US $ 15,000 in prize money this past Saturday (August 8, 2009). Being held on clay courts in Tehran, Iran - duo Rungkat/Trijati posted their first round victory over duet of Marc Abdulnour/Vikram Reddy B (Syria/India) 6-0, 6-3. In quarterfinal, Rungkat/Trijati had walk over victory against third seed Indian duo Srirambalaji Narayanaswamy/Ranjit Virali-Murugesan then in semi-final they defeated another Indian pair, Vijayant Malik/Yannick Nelord 6-3, 7-5.

As Indonesia Tennis Association had miscommunication with the tournament committee, eventually only Trijati was awarded wild card in the singles main draw. In the original plan, Indonesia Tennis Association requested for Rungkat to get wild card main draw, while Trijati to receive wild card qualifying. As result, Trijati could only survive until second round as he bowed out to third seed Bogdan-Victor Leonte of Romania 3-6, 2-6. In the opening round, Trijati eased past Armenian lucky loser Khachatur Khachatryan 6-3, 6-0.
