A finalist is guaranteed as three local players into semi-finals

All three Indonesian players in quarterfinals today (August 7, 2009) advanced into the last four round of "Solo Women's Open" which is held at Gelora Manahan Tennis Courts in Solo, Central Java.

The first one who booked the ticket for semi-final was wild card Lutfiana Aris Budiharto. Currently a student at Wichita State University, one of Tennis Diva camp's members, Budiharto proved as better player by demonstrating her ability as consistent retriever and made her opponent, Thai qualifier Natchanok Saenyaukhot to be frustrated along the match. In the midst of her summer vacation, Budiharto crushed Saenyaukhot 6-2, 6-0. An unranked player now, 18 years old Budiharto once had reached her best at WTA 725 on August 13, 2007 and tomorrow she will appear in her fourth 10K's semi-final after Balikpapan 2005, Jakarta 2006 and Jakarta 2008.

Next Budiharto will clash with second seed Varatchaya Wongteanchai from Thailand who had an easy outing against physically worn out seventh seed Kim Ji-Young of South Korea. Wongteanchai booted out Kim 6-0, 6-1 and will play Budiharto for the very first time.

Fifth seed and also a member of the elite camp, Lavinia Tananta also continued on to the last four round after she cruised past Penang resident, Jawairiah Noordin of Malaysia 6-4, 6-2. Tomorrow it will be Tananta's second 10K's semi-final of the season after Pattaya last June. Next Tananta will face another challenge from talented Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing who defeated her in the opening round of Jakarta 10K last week.

Ysidora Tobing extended her good form as she shocked 18 years old and sixth seed Liu Shaozhuo of China 7-5, 6-2 and claimed back to back semi-final only in her fourth 10K's participation. Playing against lefty, tall, persistent with big power such Liu, in the opening set Ysidora Tobing could not apply her own game as she had difficulty to penetrate Liu's defense. As its consequence, Ysidora Tobing was trailed 1-4 but she simply did not want to give-up. She kept on fighting back and gradually she was able to close the gap 2-4, 3-4, 3-5, 4-5, 5-5. Then Ysidora Tobing held her serve to earn set point 6-5 and eventually she broke Liu's serve to close it out 7-5!

In the second set, 16 years old Ysidora Tobing played solid and smart attacking game so then she could quickly lead 4-1, 4-2, 5-2 and finally won 6-2 game set and match.

Saturday's semi-final will start with Wongteanchai against Budiharto at 1 PM on Court 8 then followed by Tananta versus Ysidora Tobing at 2.30 PM on Court 7. Last but not least, doubles' final between second seed pair Gumulya/Rompies and third seed Thai duo Narattana/Wannasuk at 3 PM on Court 8.
