Second seed Fuda crashes out in quarterfinals at Goyang

It was really a bad luck for local player, Lee "bouncy" Ye-Ra as she showed her determination throughout the match but she eventually just lost by heartbreaking tie-break in quarterfinals at "ITF Nong Hyup International Women's Circuit" in Goyang, South Korea on Friday (May 29, 2009). On the other hand, top seed Lu Jing-Jing from China looked so hungry to come out as winner and she was indeed tougher mentally in critical moments in defeating Lee in such grueling battle which she prevailed 6-3, 4-6 7-6(3). Lu will be challenged by local "ichiban" and fifth seed Lee Jin-A after she disposed the only qualifier left, Shannon Golds from the land of Crocodile Dundee with comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory.

In the meantime, third seed Russian Elena Chalova continued her good form as she simply outclassed seventh seed Hwang I-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei 6-1, 6-1. The biggest upset was posted by up and coming sixth seed Han Xinyun of China when she fought back strongly after a set deficit to beat more experienced second seed Ryoko Fuda from the playground of Akira Kurosawa. Indeed, Han was triumphant with 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
