Indonesia’s numero uno 19 years old Christopher Rungkat just a step away from playing his first ever 35K’s final qualifying but he failed to do so at “Fergana Challenger” in Fergana, Uzbekistan. In Q1 Rungkat crushed Doniyor Usmonov from Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-1 then in Q2 the son of Michael Rungkat and Elfia Nizarwan, could not secure his momentum after he sealed the opening set then eventually lost to fifth seed Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia 6-4, 3-6, 2-6. Now small yet energetic Rungkat will bet on his doubles’ action as he is partnered with local player, Rifat Biktyakov, thanks to wild card facility. In contrast, fourth seed Thai Kittipong Wachiramanowong cruised through as qualifier.
Recent winner of Busan 75K in South Korea, Danai “Pik” Udomchoke of Thailand tops the singles’ main draw as first seed. Meanwhile Thai twin brothers, Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana also placed as the top seed in the doubles’ main draw. The Ratiwatanas completed Thais’ clean sweep at Busan 75 K this past week-end.
