Majeric grabs her 25K's maiden title
In the battle of first timers to play in 25K’s final, eventually eighth seed Tadeja Majeric of Slovenia was triumphant with her 25K’s maiden title at “Bulungan Regent Women’s Open 2009” in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, East Kalimantan yesterday (May 17, 2009). As result Majeric cruised past resurgent Thai Nudnida “June” Luangnam 6-3, 7-5. Majeric was certainly deserved such title as her overall three weeks’ performance in East Kalimantan spoke for itself. Majeric did not enter Balikpapan 25K but she just signed-in on the site and based on her ranked at WTA 405 prior to the tourney, she became top seed in qualifying rounds then she made it all the way to semi-finals until she bowed out to the eventual winner Ayu Fani Damayanti in three sets. In the second week of Tarakan 10K, 18 years old Majeric lost toYang Yi of China in quarterfinals.
As for Luangnam, despite her failure to claim her 25K’s maiden title, being runner-up was indeed good outcome. After all, it will boost her morale in climbing back to higher rank as she used to be.
