Lebedeva denies Destriana's maiden final of Grade 4


The sole hope of Indonesia, second seed Bella Destriana stumbled again to reach her first ever final of her junior career at "Malaysia ITF World Junior Tennis Championships" an ITF Grade 4 tournament which is held at Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh Tennis Courts in Perak, Ipoh, Malaysia on Saturday (October 17, 2009). Playing only in her second semi-final of Grade 4, 17 years old Destriana bowed out to Russian third seed and 15 years old Margarita Lebedeva 6-7(2), 4-6 . With this result, Lebedeva will play her second final of her career in Grade 4 tourney after "Prokom Cup" in Poznan, Poland when she was runner-up.

Meanwhile 16 years old top seed Katherine Westbury from New Zealand secured her ticket into final as she cruised past Thai fourth seed Tanaporn Thongsing 6-1, 6-4 in the other semi-final. Tomorrow's final will be Westbury's third final of Grade 4 after Wellington, New Zealand and Malacca, Malaysia where she collected titles back to back in 2008.

In boys' doubles, it was perfect semi-finals as all four top seeded pairs were contesting. Top seed pair Hernus Pieters/Ahmed Triki (South Africa/Turkey) defeated fourth seed Jason Joey Alexander/Nuttanon Kadchapanan (Indonesia/Thailand) 63 75, while second seed duet Phassawit Burapharitta/Chanon Varapongsittikul (Thailand) edged past third seed Kittipong Chienwichai/Michael Tjuatjadarma (Thailand/Indonesia) 6-2, 6-4.
