Among three Indonesian girls in quarterfinals, only second seed Bella Destriana advanced into semi-final at "Malaysia ITF World Junior Tennis Championships" an ITF Grade 4 tournament which is held at Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh Tennis Courts in Perak, Ipoh, Malaysia on Friday (October 16, 2009). Tomorrow 17 years old Destriana will appear only in her second semi-final of Grade 4 after Solo last year. Today she battled past Venezuelan fifth seed Maria Andrea Cardenas 7-6(0), 6-3. In the last four round, Destriana will face challenge from Russian third seed and 15 years old Margarita Lebedeva who had to work hard in defeating Thai sixth seed Nattawadee Kotcha 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. As a rookie in ITF junior circuit, Lebedeva has better track of record than Destriana. Last June only playing in her fourth tourney, Lebedeva ended-up as runner-up at "Prokom Cup" an ITF Grade 4 tourney in Poznan, Poland. Tomorrow the Russian girl will play her fourth Grade 4 semi-final after "Prokom Cup", "8th Mouhafaza Club International ITF Junior Tournament" in Damascus, Syria and "Taca Diogo Napoles 2009" in Porto, Portugal.
Meanwhile two other Indonesians in the last eight round, seventh seed Nadya Syarifah and eighth seed Aldila Sutjiadi had to finish their journey. A resident of Cianjur, West Java, Syarifah was easily beaten by top seed Katherine Westbury from New Zealand 1-6, 1-6. Same outcome was recorded by Sutjiadi who was defeated by Thai fourth seed and 15 years old Tanaporn Thongsing 4-6, 3-6. Last October in Perak, Malaysia Grade 4, Sutjiadi edged past Thongsing 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in round 16.
Both Sutjiadi and Syarifah as fourth seed pair in doubles, they moved into semi-final after they eased past duo Vanessa Gunawan/Rongrong Leenabanchong (Indonesia/Thailand) 6-1, 6-2. While third seed duet Destriana/Nattawadee Kotcha (Indonesia/Thailand) also stormed into the last four round as they cruised past Malaysian duo Choo Lyn Yee/Choo Lyn Yuen 6-3, 6-0.
