Junior Fed Cup Final: Indonesia earned victory over Croatia
The third Round Robin ties of the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas was staged at La Loma Centro Deportivo in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on Thursday (October 1, 2009). In Group A, Indonesia finally tasted a victory after defeating Croatia 2-1. Indonesia took lead first 1-0 when Cynthia Melita (ranked at ITF 258) dispatched Matea Cutura (ranked at ITF 1452) 6-4, 6-2. World ranked number 7 Ajla Tomljanovic tied it 1-1 as she cruised past Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing (ranked at ITF 42) 6-3, 6-1 in the second rubber. Eventually in the deciding battle, duo Melita/Ysidora Tobing edged past duet Tomljanovic/Dora Vajdic 6-3, 6-4. By claiming a win, Indonesian team finished as number three in Group A after top seed Russia and Croatia. In 9th to 12th place play-off, Indonesian team will clash with Peruvian team.
In Group B, Japanese girls clinched as top finishers after they defeated Ukraine team 2-1. Ukraine sealed 1-0 first when Katerina ozlova edged past Risa Ozaki 7-5, 6-3 and it was Akiko Omae who made it 1-1 after she had to go through thriller but prevailed to beat Elina Svitolina 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Finally duo Omae/Ozaki securd their victory as they defeated Kozlova/Svitolina also in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
