Unseeded Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing continued her run as she romped into her first ever 10K’s semi-final along with Big Mama’s three seeded girls at Jakarta Women’s Circuit with total prize money of US $ 10,000 today (July 30, 2009) at Kemayoran Tennis Center owned by Big Mama or Martina Widjaja. It is such a rare treat for the local fans to witness all four local players in the last four round.
The biggest shock of the day was capitalized by 16 years old Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing as she cruised past third seed Varatchaya Wongteanchai of Thailand 6-2, 6-3 in quarterfinal. Ysidora Tobing started the match with love game and held her serve 1-0. She immediately broke Wongteanchai’s serve to lead 2-0 then 19 years old Wongteanchai broke back to closer the gap, 1-2. Basically Ysidora Tobing took charge of the game by combining her various groundstrokes in forcing her opponent to move from side to side. Only playing in her third 10K since last year, Ysidora Tobing was unstoppable to lead 5-1, 5-2 and she closed it out 6-2.
In second set, both players had service game till the younger one was up 3-2 then she was able to break Wongteanchai’s serve to further lead 4-2, 5-2. The Thai player still managed to hold her serve and made it to 3-5 and finally Wongteanchai’s backhand return hit the net to end the match as Ysidora Tobing won 6-3. All in all, Ysidora Tobing improved her performance after 2 days in a row of three sets in which she demonstrated good serve, smart attacking game combined with strong determination.

Top seed Ayu Fani Damayanti had a relatively easy outing when she edged past Thai Nungnadda Wannasuk 6-1, 6-3. In contrast, second seed Sandy Gumulya and fourth seed Jessy Rompies had to go through thriller of three sets. Former Indonesia’s number one Gumulya was able to win over Thai qualifier, Natchanok Saenyaukhot 0-6, 6-2, 6-0, while Rompies fought back after a set down and defeated eighth seed Kim Ji-Young 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
