After leading 1-0, New Zealand's number two player GD Jones battled with Indonesia's numero uno Christopher Rungkat and Jones eventually won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to secure comfortable 2-0 lead. Then on Saturday (July 11, 2009) New Zealand's doubles duet Dan King-Turner and GD Jones were forced to come from behind a few times in the match, and had the first set down 4-6 to the Indonesian pair of Christopher Rungkat and Ketut-Nesa Arta. The Kiwis' pair bounced back to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-4 and put New Zealand up 3-0 in the tie.
Today (July 12, 2009) in his debut Davis Cup appearance, Oliver Statham concluded the tie against Indonesia by defeating the number two player of Indonesia, Sunu Wahyu Trijati, in straight sets. The score was 6-1 6-0 in a very quick game.
Earlier, the New Zealand number one player, Dan King-Turner had beaten Ayrton Wibowo 6-4 6-1.
Today's results mean a perfect 5-0 win for New Zealand over Indonesia.
The New Zealand Davis Cup Team will now face the Philippines in the Asia/Oceania Group II final in September.
This weekend, Philippines defeated Pakistan in their tie in Manila.
