Basuki/Zalameda finish as runners-up, Chan takes singles title
Indonesian Yayuk Basuki (currently ranked at WTA 247 in doubles) and her 26 years old partner, Riza Zalameda of USA, had to be content as runners-up despite their do or die fight. In the end, Basuki/Zalameda bowed out to local top seed pair Chan Yung-Jan/Chuang Chia-Jung 3-6, 6-3, 7-10 in final of "2009 OEC Taipei Ladies Open" with total prize money of US $ 100,000 which took place at indoor hardcourts of Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan today. Duet Chan/Chuang claimed their last title as a pair at WTA Tier II in Los Angeles, California in late July 2008.
Singles winner was local fourth seed Chan Yung-Jan who battled past Japanese top seed Ayumi Morita 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Finally Chan came out of long drought since her last singles title at Xiamen, China 75K in early December 2007. Today was the fifth final between Chan against Morita in pro circuit and Chan leads 4-1 versus Morita. While in their head to head, Chan is 5-1 against Morita.
