Ysidora Tobing raised white flag, top seed Watson crashed out

Number one Indonesian junior player, Grace Sari Ysidora Tobing came to the court with stiff shoulder and she simply just retrieved the ball without attacking at all to swallow bagel from Chinese tenth seed Zheng Sai Sai or 0-6 in the opening set. Then in second set Ysidora Tobing felt worst on her shoulder but she tried to hang in there and eventually she gave up when she trailed 3-4 to end her journey with retire at "Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships" which is held at IMG/Bollettieri Academies in Bradenton, Florida, USA in round 32 on Wednesday (December 2, 2009). Therefore, Ysidora Tobing is now 0-3 against Zheng.

The biggest upset of the day was the departure of Croat second seed Slvia Njiric who was toppled by French qualifier Lou Brouleau 5-7, 4-6. Four more seeds were also ousted then. Seventh seed Yulia Putintseva of Russia was beaten by Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski 3-6, 6-3, 5-7, followed by Romanian fourteenth seed Cristina Dinu who was defeated by Thai talent Luksika Kumkhum 6-2, 1-6, 2-6. Kumkhum is now 2-0 against Dinu as the Thai player also edged past her Romanian opponent at US Open last September. Meanwhile Ukraine fifteenth seed Evita Svitolina was ousted by Turkish Melis Sezer 2-6, 6-2, 6-7(5). Also facing elimination was Canadian sixteenth seed Katarena Paliivets who was beaten by Chinese wild card Zhao Di 3-6, 4-6.

In round 16, a major surprise was made by Russian thirteenth seed Polina Leykina who battled past top seed Heather Watson from Great Britain 7-6(6), 6-4. Leykina got her Grade 1 title at Manila last March when her achievement was highlighted by ousting top seed Hungarian Timea Babos in semi-final. Prior to Manila, at Kuching Grade 1 in Sarawak, Malaysia, Leykina bowed out to Indonesian Ysidora Tobing in round 16. Three more seeded players such as fifth seed Slovenian Nastja Kolar, Chinese tenth seed Zheng Sai Sai and twelveth seed Magda Linette of Poland were also ended their journey in third round.

So there are only two Asian players left - Thai Luksika Kumkhum and Chinese wild card Zhao Di.
