The youngest Indonesian with WTA rank, Grace Sari Ysidora ends her season by reaching her highest ever world rank at WTA 757 this week. Playing only 3 pro tourneys this year, Ysidora finished in round 16 at Balikpapan 25K, as runner-up at Jakarta 10K and semi-finalist at Solo 10K. In 2008 as a "rookie" Ysidora ended-up at WTA 1053.
Silver medalist of women's singles at recent 25th SEA Games in Vientiane, Laos, Ayu Fani Damayanti posted quite good season with 5 titles from Hamilton 10K, Balikpapan 25K, Bangkok 10K, Pattaya 10K and Jakarta 10K. Damayanti earned best rank of her career at WTA 275 on October 5, 2009. Last year she ended at WTA 733.
Gold medalist of women's singles at recent 25th SEA Games in Laos, Lavinia Tananta had an improved career this year as she clinched her highest rank at WTA 362 on November 16, 2009. Tananta's ended 2008 at WTA 701. She collected 2 titles at Solo 10K and Kuching 10K this season.
Jessy Rompies also improved her outcome this year as she eventually became runner-up at Kuching 10K for the very first time. Rompies claimed her best rank at WTA 421 on November 16, 2009, while last season she closed it at WTA 811.
Sandy Gumulya had to be content with her season as she faced knee injury but she managed to finish as semi-finalist at North Shore City 10K, Jakarta 10K and Nonthaburi 10K. Gumulya lost her number one spot in Indonesia as her world ranking went down significantly. Last year she ended at WTA 252, while her highest rank was at WTA 228 on May 19, 2008.
"Veteran" Romana Tedjakusuma had mediocre season as she posted 6-11 in her singles. Last year she finished her season at WTA 372, while her best rank was at WTA 82 on April 4, 1994.
Then Beatrice Gumulya struggled throughout 2009 as she concluded her ITF Junior circuit tour in the first quarter and shifted into pro tour for the rest of the year. Her best rank was at WTA 794 on August 25, 2008 after she won her maiden title at Jakarta 10K by defeating her sister Sandy in three sets. Gumulya closed 2008 at WTA 813.
