Leykina advances into semi-final

Thirteenth seed Polina Leykina of Russia earned her semi-final ticket in a hard way at "Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships" which is held at IMG/Bollettieri Academies in Bradenton, Florida, USA in quarterfinal on Friday (December 4, 2009). Leykina made another upset by ousting Hungarian eighth seed Zsofia Susanyi 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. In the last four round, Leykina will clash with Chinese wild card Zhao Di who bounced back to beat American Madison Keys 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-4. Zhao's amazing run brought her to first ever Grade 1 semi-final of her junior career. Once ranked as high as ITF 178 last January, Zhao is currently at ITF 526.

The highest seeded player left was Russian third seed Daria Gavrilova and she managed to fight back to win over her compatriot and eleventh seed Valeriya Solovieva 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Meanwhile Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski continued her good form as she breezed past Thai Luksika Kumkhum 6-0, 6-2. Dabrowski is reaching Grade 1 semi-final back to back after Yucatan, Mexico, while Kumkhum just reached her maiden Grade 1 quarterfinal.
