Sharapova crashes out, all American finals is secured
Unseeded Daria Sharapova of Belarus finally fell in semi-finals as she bowed out to a better American player, Denise Starr 2-6, 1-6 at "Barbados Junior International Championships" at National Tennis Center in St. Michael, Barbados yesterday. In the other semi-finals, amazing race by qualifier Nadia Echeverria Alam from USA kept going strong after she shocked eighth seed Adel Arshavskaya of Russia. Echeverria Alam, runner-up of U-14 category at prestigious "Eddie Herr" tourney last year fought back from a set deficit and prevailed to defeat Arshavskaya 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Both Starr and Echeverria Alam will play their first ever final of Grade 4 on Sunday.
As for consolation due to their singles' defeat, the twin sisters, Renata and Adel Arshavskaya from Russia as second seed pair won an easy final match as they crushed Nadia Echeverria Alam/Olga Gaistruk (USA/Ukraine) 6-0, 6-2.
